Builth Wells 14 - 38 Ammanford

Builth Wells 14 – 38 Ammanford

The Bulls entertained Ammanford on Saturday in what was their last home game of the season. The Bulls were looking to get back on track after a narrow defeat to basement team Tondu last week.

Ammanford, currently second in the league started the better of the two teams, notching a penalty kick and crossing the whitewash to take an early 10 nil lead in the first quarter of an hour. Minutes later and despite being down to 14 men with winger Tom Davies yellow carded, the Bulls cut the deficit by 7 points. Hooker Phil Morgan scoring a well-deserved try and full back Seb Barrett adding the conversion. Ammanford failed to add to their tally just before the break when a penalty kick hit the upright. Half time score 7-10 to the visitors.

Builth enjoyed good periods of possession early in the second half. Strong ball carrying by second row Lucas Evans and number 8 Alex Brown put Builth on the front foot and the Bulls took the lead courtesy of a try from prop Neil Jarman, Barratt again adding the extras. Changes in Builth personnel seemed disruptive and another yellow card, this time for flanker Wayne Morris proved costly.  Ammanford took control of the game, scoring four tries in quick succession for a comfortable win.

Builth will be on the road for their final two games of the season. A difficult trip away to Trebanos on Saturday 9th April and finally a rearranged fixture against Pencoed the following weekend.
