Maesteg Quins 20 – 5 Builth

The Bulls travelled to Maesteg last Saturday to play the Quins for their 5th game of the season.

The opening exchanges saw both sides looking to run the ball but it was the home side that scored first with a penalty within the first 5 minutes, easily dispatched by the number 10. Builth struck back within minutes however, with a well worked drive from a lineout. Phil Morgan touching down for his first try of 2015-16 campaign. Gavin Jones hitting the upright to leave the score 3-5. Disappointingly for the visitors, this was where their points tally ended.

The home team managing two first half tries. Ill-discipline became the order of the day for Builth with the penalty count mounting and Dan Oakley being shown yellow 30 minutes in for a high tackle. The Quins also having a player binned just before the half time whistle. An uneventful second half followed with both sides defending well. Scoring chances were kept to a minimum despite some great running by Builth winger Ryan Wheeler and substitute Seb Barrett, as neither team could find a way through the opposition. The only points coming from a single Quins penalty. Final score 20-5

The Builth coaches will have plenty to work on in the area of discipline ahead of their next game, an early 1.30pm kick off ahead of the Wales Australia game, at home to Seven Sisters.
